This five-day course (Monday to Friday) will teach the basics of termite identification, sampling and ecology, with an emphasis on the southern African fauna. It will include training in: identification of termite soldiers to genus level; active and passive termite sampling; termite community and trophic ecology; the role of termites in ecosystems.
Venue: Wits Rural Facility, near Acornhoek, Limpopo Province, South Africa.
This course is suitable for students and researchers working on insects and savanna ecology, and anyone with an interest in termite biology.
Registration
Participants are expected to provide their own microscopes, and make their own travel arrangements. Workshop registration will cover basic accommodation and full catering (exact costs to be determined but will be kept to a minimum). Max. 10 participants.
